How can I lighten my dirty blonde hair in the winter?

I have thick hair that is dirty blonde, and I want to lighten it to a lighter blonde color. I know you can use lemon juice in the summer. How can I lighten it without dying it in the winter. Thanks.

PS, please tell me a way that is inexpensive and won't damage hair.

As a natural dark blonde myself, I've found that what works for me is to squirt lemon juice on my hair before shampooing, and then to keep it looking bright I mix Sheer Blonde (whatever shade works best for your hair) shampoo with Suave Daily Clarifying. Sheer Blonde runs about $6 a bottle here, but Suave is only 99鍨? so mixing the shampoos and conditioners together makes the expensive stuff last longer, plus Daily Clarifying is really good on it's own at removing any buildup on your hair.

Now, it doesn't really make it dramatically lighter, if that's what you're going for, but it will brighten your hair up and make it catch the light more, so it gives the illusion of a lighter shade.

Lemon juice is the only natural way I know for sure. Though someone did tell me once that Chamomile shampoo is good for blonde hair.

The hair rule for winter is to go darker.

Try using something like Sun-in. It's like lemon juice but it has other stuff in it. All you need is a blow dryer. The heat from the dryer will make your hair lighter. I've tried it and it works.

You weaken your hair everytime you dye it. It strips your hair of color and deposits the chemical color in the hair shaft. Plus, it's a lot of time and money to maintain a color, especially blonde.

Instead of doing the bottle blonde thing like everyother 16 year old girl, pump up the color a shade or two DARKER, like a light brown. You can get this for less than 10 dollars and as your hair grows, the roots won't be as obvious. You may want to find a semi-permanent that will last a couple months and fade over time. These are far less damaging.

You could always try and find a shampoo for color treaded hair.

or just that new stuff thats out...

its like a golden bottle for blondes.

Brown for brunttes

and Red for Redhair

Its apparently lightens upi your hair everytime you wash it . and treats it too.

i really wanna get it , but i always forget ... lol

I wouldn't reccomend Sun-In. It has something that they refer to as "metallic dyes". It is very bad for your hair. It's the only thing that can't be removed from your hair. Can't be bleached out, washed out, nothing. It has to either grow off, or be cut out. I've heard lemon juice works, but I don't know for sure. I would also agree that darker in the winter is a nice change. Good Luck!

Well, I have the same problem. I have very dry dirty blonde hair. Any thing to make your hair lighter will hurt your hair because it is stripping it of its moisture. So I go with lemon juice and blow dry it. If I want to make it lighter than that use chamomile tea but only after the lemon juice. Then every day I will wash and condition my hair in "SunSilk Hydra TLC" its the pink bottle. I sware by SunSilk, it saved my hair
